Defensive Drivers Program 8-Hour:
The Safety Council of Northwest Ohio offers the FLI Learning Systems "Coaching the Experienced Driver 4+2" State Certified 8-hour course. This course is designed around proven driving techniques, with components addressing human error produced collisions. This course focuses on what the driver can do to prevent collisions.

This course offers a high rate of success in reducing the severity and frequency of collisions for its graduates. In addition, it has been certified for drivers who have accumulated more than 5, but no more than 11 points for traffic violations against their license, to receive a 2-point credit.

For drivers who have acquired 12-points or more, this class is required to reinstate their license.

Also in 26 states most insurance companies will give a reduced premium for those individuals or companies whose employees have taken a certified Defensive Drive Program. Check with your insurance company to see if you qualify.

Juvenile Driver Improvement Program 6-Hour:
Beginning in 1999 the Bureau of Motor Vehicles had started enforcing a new law that states if a juvenile (16-18 years old) is convicted of 2 moving violations before their 18th birthday, their license will be suspended. In order to renew their license, the juvenile will need to serve a suspension period, pay a reinstatement fee to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, successfully complete a 6-hour Juvenile Driver Improvement Course, show proof of insurance, and be re-tested in the written and driving exams.

The SCNWO offers the 6-hour Driver Improvement Course on scheduled Saturdays, it is usually the last Saturday of the month. To get into the course you would need to pre-register and pre-pay at the SCNWO office, Monday thru Friday. The cost of this course is $60.00.
